Production Engineer

Department: Operations
Reporting to: Operations Manager

Reporting to the Operations Manager the post holder will be responsible for coordinating production engineering processes from the final design phase to full production release.
Liaising with the company’s Engineering and Project Teams, Production and supply chain ensuring the successful transition for new and existing product designs thus ensuring that projects are achieved on
time, to quality and budget.
Operate in a Line Support role for existing product lines, thus ensuring that programs are achieved on
time, to quality and budget

Security

  • Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level

  1. Responsible for managing the standards, methods and procedures for the design, modification, and
    maintenance of manufacturing equipment (Jigs / Fixtures / Tooling) and processes.
    2. Develop and deliver production plans, build documentation and route cards for a variety of
    engineering projects from final design and into series production.
    3. Contribute to the development of the Operations Department strategy.
    4. Co-ordinate cross-functional departmental activities to resolve manufacturing issues during day to
    day operation’s activity.
    5. Develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability.
    6. Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Support New Product Introduction, NPI
    and Design for Manufacture, DFM activities.
    7. Responsible for production engineering tasks associated with ToT (Transfer of Technology) projects.
    8. To undertake customer and supplier visits by car, when necessary. As such a full current driving
    licence is required.
    9. Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
    10. Carry out other tasks and activities as required by management

Qualifications

  • Ideally degree educated in an engineering related discipline or with a recognised engineering apprenticeship within an electro-optical manufacturing environment

Experience

  • Demonstrates a good level of understanding and application of process engineering principles, concepts, practices and standards.
  • Ability to react swiftly to changes in production demands and implement
    effective and timely solutions

Knowledge

  • Ability to plan, prioritise and effectively manage time, meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
