Electronics Design Engineer

Department: Engineering
Reporting to: Electronics & Software Team Leader

To design and develop electronic systems for the Instro product range. This involves the entire product
life cycle, from concept to end-of-life and working with the mechanical and software teams.
Working within the wider Instro team to support the introduction of new products and support the existing
product line.

Security

  • Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level

  1. Specification capture, or working to existing specifications.
    2. Appropriate technology selection and evaluation.
    3. Capture of the schematic design, circuit simulation and the review process.
    4. PCB layout and peer review.
    5. Writing of technical notes, reports, test specifications and explanations.
    6. Taking the design through design verification testing and formal qualification.
    7. Production support including fault finding and documenting procedures
    8. Component obsolescence management.
    9. To undertake as required, customer and supplier visits by car. As such a full current driving licence is
    required

Qualifications

  • Electronic Engineering Degree level qualified or relevant experience
    • CID / CID+
    • CEng

Experience

  • Relevant experience in a design and development role.
    • Electro mechanical systems
    • Control Systems

Knowledge

  • Good level of mechanical understanding would be an advantage.
    • Control theory with working knowledge of servo systems and control loops.
    • Knowledge of EMC, Mil-Std 461 and 810 advantageous.
    • Digital signal processing and data acquisition.
    • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and inspection process.

    • Advantageous to have a good understanding of application C++ and C#
    • Strong mathematical skills.
