Test, Repair & Inspection Technician

Department: Operations
Reporting to:
Assembly Team Leader

To inspect and test products following manufacture and fault diagnose and to repair products to the specific product standard and Customer requirements including but not limited to Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) test function.

This role will ensure that all products are fit for purpose and aligned with the company’s quality standards, any deviation will be reported and quarantined according to non-conformance procedure. Complete written reports, non-conformance reports and Customer returns databases in a timely manner. Also, work within other areas of the business as required and authorised by the Team Leader.

Security

  • Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level.

  1. Test & Inspection of new and Customer returned product to ensure that it meets the required specification.
  2. Report non-conformance using the product control data base, email, NCR or MRB procedures.
  3. Test product using Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and the ESS equipment & relevant procedures.
  4. Diagnose and repair defects within Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs).
  5. Complete and file all related documentation in a timely manner.
  6. Complete continual review and updates of test documentation and Product Work Instructions.
  7. Report all deviation to the Engineering team for correction.
  8. Work as part of the team to promote continual improvement throughout the business.
  9. Any other tasks required by management.

 

Qualifications

  • Standard educational level requirements to include English, Maths and a science subject
  • HND or BSc Electronics (or similar) (Desirable)

Experience

  • Working within an engineering / quality related production environment.
  • Fault diagnosis to component level of PCBAs.
  • Use of Automatic Test Equipment

Skills & Abilities 

  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings.
  • Understanding of company product lines
  • Ability to use electronic equipment such as multimeter’s, oscilloscopes.
  • Capable of working under own initiative.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools.
  • Capable of articulating root cause of simple failures.
  • Capable to identify acceptable build quality to FFF methodology.
  • Capable of using MS word and excel programs.
  • Identify and report continuous improvement opportunities within the department.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of working in defence industry.
  • Understanding of Electrostatic Devices and handling
  • Working within a cleanroom environment
