Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager will form an integral part of the Operations leadership team, providing leadership to the Supply team encompassing costings, procurement, stores management, logistics, exports and shipping to enable them in the achievement of operational objectives. With a strong, solid background in purchasing and supply chain management, the candidate will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes. The role is key to leading the company forward in securing quality suppliers of materials and components covering price delivery and quality targets.

The Supply Chain Manager will report into the Operations Director and will manage and enable the whole supply team to achieve targets set whilst supporting all members of the operations team.

The role will have a clear focus on continuous improvement and developing the purchasing function in line with the strategic objectives to enable effective procurement to support production objectives and new product development.


  • Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level.

  • Managing and controlling all the company’s external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of materials and finished parts for production.
  • Definition and implementation of make buy decisions to achieve the most effective use of resource within current constraints.
  • Ensure parts and materials are purchased at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company’s needs.
  • Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.
  • Foster close working relationships with associated departments e.g. Sales, Engineering, Production and Business Development.
  • Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend.
  • Carry out Supplier visits & vendor audits as required. As such a full clean driving licence is required.
  • Management of the supply team fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that products are shipped accordingly to the plan whilst maintaining compliance with export restrictions.
  • Management of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activity ensuring customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are
  • Development of Supply Team ensuring that the skills and competences of the department are at the levels required for their roles
  • Development and Recording of relevant KPIs to improve performance.
