Quality Engineer

Department: Quality Assurance
Reporting to: Quality Manager

The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the overall quality of a manufactured product is safe, reliable and meets customer expectations. They are also tasked with supporting the maintenance of processes so they are as efficient and cost-effective as possible whilst rectifying any potential issues.

The focus of the role will include the oversight of supplier quality, ensuring materials meet required standards and are processed as efficiently as possible. Supporting colleagues on all technical issues affecting quality and processes. In addition; raising NCR reports, resolving problems, supporting process improvements, new product introduction and internal or supplier audits.

Security

  • Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level

  • Review and approve first article inspection reports and supplier process validations
  • Review quarantined materials and facilitate either the return to supplier, disposal or rework of items
  • Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits
  • Carry out 8D investigations / problem solving
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations personnel to support continuous improvement activities
  • Provide quality control support as required
  • Support new production introduction process

Qualifications

  • NVQ / HNC in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • ISO9001 internal auditor

Experience

  • Previous quality & manufacturing experience
  • Problem solving
  • Working with cross functional teams
  • Coordinating and performing internal process/product audits
  • Preparing and presenting information

Knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Understanding of ISO9001 standard and principles
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of operating measurement equipment
  • Goods inward, in process and end of line inspection
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external
  • Capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance/training)
  • Organisational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain results working to specified time frames
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions
