Estimator/Buyer

Department: Operations
Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

The Estimator/Buyer will assist the Supply Chain Manager to purchase all materials to the company’s business requirements by collating and analysing order requirements and supplier information. To create costings based on sales requirements for the sale team and provide administrative support to the operations team. The Operations Department is responsible for purchasing all materials used in the course of the business.

Security

  • Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level

  • Generating RFIs and RFQs including cost breakdown format
  • Creating manufacturing estimates for sales and engineering teams
  • Liaising with engineering department on supplier selection
  • Liaising with quality department on vendor performance
  • Resolving invoice queries
  • Liaising with new suppliers to obtain information relating to price, delivery and capability
  • Preparing Purchasing Reports
  • Analysing quotations and preparing comparative analysis
  • Providing data to enable accurate and regular supplier performance monitoring
  • Order progression
  • Import clearance
  • Any other tasks as necessary in support of the business

Qualifications

  • Minimum A-C grade GCSEs in Maths, English and a Science subject

Experience

  • Experience within an Engineering Procurement environment
  • Experience of operating in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of, or exposure to, engineering terminology and methodology
  • Knowledge of, or exposure to, multiple process operations
  • Knowledge of working with MRP generated PO’s as well as stand-alone requisitions
